White Fish

Right outside our factory, the fishermen harvest high quality white fish such as cod, haddock, saithe, tusk, red fish and others. We receive and process the fish within the same day it’s been caught. We certainly know how important it is that the fish is treated with great care the whole way. That is why we specifically choose for delivery the fishing boats which are as much concerned about the high quality as we are.

Cod is one of the most common and economically important marine fishes in Norway, and one of the best sea foods on the market.

Haddock has clean white flesh that is quite firm when fresh and it is often cooked similarly to cod. Saithe is both a pelagic and a demersal fish. It swims in shoals, which can be enormous in good habitats with plenty of food.

Haddock
White Fish

Haddock is a bottom-dwelling fish that lives at depths of between 40 and 300 metres. Its most important spawning grounds are in the North Sea, along the edge of the continental shelf off Møre og Romsdal County and off Southwest Iceland and the Faeroe Islands. Young haddock in the Barents Sea are relatively territorial, whereas larger fish undertake long migrations. For example, they migrate down along the coast of Northern Norway and the banks off the coast of Troms County to spawn. Haddock is fished all year, but in the summertime, a special haddock fishery by means of floating long lines takes Place off the coast of eastern Finnmark.

The factories have a lot of small coastal vessels as suppliers of fresh fish. These vessels have a short way from the catching area to the local factory. In that way the fish is guaranteed to be fresh when it is packed and ready to be shipped out to the customers.
